In a first step, the sound insulation value is determind for the fully caulked door. This value represents the maximum possible insulation. The door is not yet operable at this state.
The sound insulation value for the operational door correlates with the fully-caulked value minus the losses due to sound transmission through the door components.
Detailed determination of losses is done by stepwise removal of the sealing mastic. It allows precise analysis of sound losses at the particular components for the optimisation of choice and installation of the components. The design of the door edge, the seal type and its allocation influence the result essentially.
